In a gritty battle, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 17-12 in Week 5 of the 2027 season. Both teams were looking to solidify their playoff aspirations, but it was the Cowboys who emerged victorious, showcasing their resilience in a tightly contested matchup. Haynes King led the offensive charge for the Lions, throwing for 163 yards and a touchdown, while Jaydon Blue was the standout for Dallas, racking up 102 rushing yards. Despite the loss, Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly for Detroit, accumulating 65 receiving yards, but it was not enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Cowboys made their mark with Jailin Walker recording five total tackles and Donovan Ezeiruaku dominating the pass rush with two sacks. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Craig Woodson of the Lions intercepted a pass, but the Cowboys' defense held firm, stifling any chance of a comeback. Ultimately, Dallas's ability to control the game on both sides of the ball secured their hard-fought victory.
