In a dominant display to open the 2026 season, the Detroit Lions toppled the New Orleans Saints with a final score of 35-7. The Lions established their prowess early, looking to set the tone for the rest of the season against a New Orleans team aiming to start strong. Jared Goff was the star of the night for Detroit, throwing for 328 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his precision and ability to find open receivers. Jameson Williams emerged as his favorite target, racking up an impressive 173 receiving yards, leaving the Saints’ secondary struggling to keep up. The Lions' offense was relentless, putting points on the board and maintaining control throughout the game. Defensively, Aidan Hutchinson made a significant impact with two sacks, consistently pressuring the Saints' quarterback and disrupting their offensive rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter when Hutchinson's pressure led to a turnover, allowing the Lions to extend their lead and shift momentum decisively in their favor. Despite strong efforts from Lorenzo Styles Jr. on defense for New Orleans, including two interceptions, the Lions’ offensive onslaught proved too much to overcome.
