In a hard-fought contest, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25-21 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. With both teams vying for a crucial win, the stakes were high, and the Cowboys emerged victorious on their home turf. Dak Prescott led the Cowboys' offense with a steady performance, throwing for one touchdown while managing the game effectively. Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield showcased his arm strength, racking up 292 passing yards, but it was Jaydon Blue's ground game that helped solidify the Cowboys’ win, as he rushed for 69 yards. Bucky Irving's 100 receiving yards for the Buccaneers kept them competitive, but the Dallas offense found a way to stay one step ahead. Defensively, Caleb Downs was a standout for the Cowboys, recording six total tackles and two sacks, which played a pivotal role in stalling Tampa Bay's momentum. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Downs' second sack led to a critical third-and-long situation for the Buccaneers, forcing them to abandon the run and ultimately leading to a turnover on downs. Despite an interception from Antoine Winfield Jr., the Cowboys' defense held firm when it mattered most, sealing the victory.
