In a thrilling season opener, the Denver Broncos narrowly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31-28, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting 2026 campaign. Both teams showcased their offensive firepower, but it was the Broncos who held off a late push from Kansas City to secure the victory. Leading the charge for Denver was RJ Harvey, who not only rushed for 109 yards but also added 76 receiving yards, proving to be a dual-threat weapon. Quarterback Bo Nix efficiently orchestrated the offense with 197 passing yards, while Patrick Mahomes kept the Chiefs competitive with three touchdown passes. The combination of Nix’s steady play and Harvey’s dynamic performance was instrumental in Denver’s success. Defensively, the Broncos made key plays that turned the tide, with Ja'Quan McMillian snagging two crucial interceptions to stifle Kansas City’s momentum. Alex Singleton anchored the defense with six total tackles, ensuring that the Chiefs struggled to find a rhythm. The game’s turning point came late in the fourth quarter when McMillian’s second interception halted a promising drive, allowing Denver to maintain its slim lead and secure the win.
