The Pittsburgh Steelers walked out of New England with a 17-14 win over the Patriots on Sunday, a three-point decision that came down to the final possessions. It was a Week 2 test of two teams still finding their identities, and Pittsburgh found just enough. The Steelers never pulled away, but they never let the Patriots take the lead late either. In a game this tight, every stop mattered. Aaron Rodgers led all passers with 193 yards and the only passing touchdown of the afternoon, managing the game with the poise you'd expect and taking care of the football when the margin was thin. Rico Dowdle was the most productive runner on the field, grinding out 73 yards on the ground and keeping the chains moving between the tackles. Kyle Pitts Sr. paced all receivers with 64 yards, consistently winning in the intermediate areas and giving his quarterback a reliable target on early downs. Neither offense found much room to breathe, which made those individual efforts loom that much larger. Defense decided this one. T.J. Watt was the disruptive force Pittsburgh needed, dropping the quarterback twice and altering the pocket on plenty of other snaps. Robert Spillane was everywhere in the run game with a team-high nine total tackles, keeping the box honest. The turning point belonged to Joey Porter, whose interception swung possession at a moment when New England could ill afford to give the ball away, and the Steelers made it stand up for a three-point win.
