In a crucial Week 2 matchup of the 2026 season, the Buffalo Bills secured a 24-13 victory over the Detroit Lions, putting them in a strong position early in the year. With both teams looking to establish momentum, the Bills' solid performance kept the Lions at bay, showcasing their defensive prowess and efficiency on offense. Jared Goff led the Lions with a strong passing game, racking up 227 yards and throwing two touchdown passes, while Jameson Williams emerged as a standout receiver, accumulating 128 yards. Despite Goff's efforts, the Lions struggled to find consistency on the ground, with James Cook III of the Bills leading his team in rushing with just 43 yards. Defensively, the Bills made key plays that shifted the momentum in their favor. Terrel Bernard's four total tackles contributed to a stout defensive effort, but it was Christian Benford's interception that marked the game's turning point, halting a potential Lions comeback. Alim McNeill recorded a sack for Detroit, but the Bills' defense effectively contained the Lions, sealing the win and sending a message to the league.
