The New England Patriots walked into Buffalo and walked out with a statement, beating the Bills 42-31 in a Week 4 shootout that never really slowed down. Both offenses traded haymakers from the opening drive, but it was New England that landed the last one. In a division where early separation matters, the Patriots now own the head-to-head tiebreaker and the momentum that comes with it. Josh Allen did everything he could to keep Buffalo in it, piling up 350 passing yards and four touchdown throws in a performance that would win most games on most Sundays. Damani Warren was the game's most explosive target, racking up 208 receiving yards and consistently turning short throws into chunk plays. But the day belonged to Hollywood Smothers, who authored a 281-yard rushing masterpiece that wore down the front seven and controlled the clock in the second half. Every time Buffalo answered through the air, Smothers answered on the ground. Defensively, New England found just enough disruption to tilt a track meet. Milton Williams was the difference-maker up front with two sacks, collapsing the pocket at the moments Buffalo needed clean platforms most. The turning point came when Craig Woodson picked off Allen, ending a Bills drive with a chance to swing the scoreboard and handing the Patriots offense a short field. Terrel Bernard led all tacklers with three, but Buffalo simply couldn't get the stops needed once Smothers found his rhythm.
